The San Ramon Valley Museum preserves and honors our rich history and heritage. The collections and exhibits represent our human experiences, institutions and cultures, which have been influenced by the landscape, climate and early colonists in the valley. The museum is in Danville, on Railroad Avenue, Prospect Avenue, at the reconstructed Southern Pacific Depot of 1891. A permanent exhibit featuring artifacts, a historical frieze and pictures of historical buildings is part of the Valley's past. The San Ramon Valley Museum gathers, stores, and preserves artifacts. A museum store offers guests unique gifts and souvenirs. As part of a partnership between the Museum and the city of Danville, the train depot in the San Ramon Valley Museum serves as the Official Visitor Information Center of Danville. The Visitor Information Centre provides free information, area maps, guide books, a Live Locally downtown guide, the Town's Live Newsletter and community event calendar. Docents are available to answer visitors ' questions.

Free public car parks on Railroad Avenue Municipal Parking Lot and public toilets are also accessible at the Historic Train Depots in the historic Southern Pacific Railway caboose, behind the Train Depot.Besides a permanent display on the history of the Area, the Museum also sponsors rotating displays and guided tours to Alamo Cemetery and Danville Old Town. There is also a shop with various items, gifts, books, notebooks and photographs in the museum.
